I was an infant when Rhoda premiered. I remember watching the reruns during my adolescence. I found season one is available on Hulu. I watched an episode last night and checked in on GetGlue. I read the comments of others who checked in. One woman said she was sad for Rhoda and glad that she married Joe. That comment made me sad. Why exactly was she sad for Rhoda? Because she was single? I’m not sure. What I remember liking about Rhoda was her realistic flaws and insecurities. I wanted a life like Rhoda’s: single and living in the city. That wasn’t sad. It seemed fun and exciting. Part of me still thinks that life is fun and exciting, but I’m wise enough to know that that life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, especially in your late 30s.
